In Animal Style, Élvs expands his ongoing exploration of the cherub, pairing these familiar classical figures with the untamed, primal forces of the natural world. Across three new sculptural works and a complementary trio of limited-edition prints, the artist skillfully sets traditional historical iconography against a distinctly contemporary and surreal sensibility.

The prints deliberately draw upon the highly detailed visual language of vintage zoological etchings. Utilizing excruciatingly fine linework and precise cross-hatching, Élvs recasts this academic aesthetic with a knowing lightness of touch. In stark contrast, the accompanying sculptures translate these fleeting, whimsical gestures into undeniable weight and permanence, rendered with a disarming physical clarity that demands the viewer's attention.

The subjects themselves constantly hover on the boundary between profound reverence and playful irreverence: soft in their physical form, yet conceptually unruly in action. Whether finding elevated sanctuary upon a cloud-collared giraffe, brokering an astonishingly intimate embrace with a fierce apex tiger, or effortlessly pressing a roaring hippopotamus overhead, each individual piece captures a small but potent act of playful defiance.
